How can I be saved?
Posted on February 8th, 2025
This is a very common question. And depending on who you ask, you are likely to get slightly varying answers. For answers to questions like this, it's best to turn to scripture for the correct answer.
The first passage we will look at is found in Ephesians 2:8-9 and says"For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
So what exactly does that mean? Well for starters, we are all sinners from birth. We are born into sin. Every one of us since the original fall of man into sin when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, as explained in Genesis Chapter 3.
And yet, by the grace of God, a grace that we don't deserve but is given to us because we have put our faith in Jesus Christ, the Man, God on earth, and His finished work on the cross. It's not due to anything that we ourselves do. And because of this, we have no room to boast about our salvation because it is a gift from God Himself.
So how do we recieve the gift of salvation? Believe! In John 3:16 Jesus saysFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
